Coconut oil (velichenna नारियल तेल or copra oilവെളിച്ചെണ്ണ) is an edible oil extracted from the kernel or meat of mature coconuts harvested from the coconut palm or coconut tree(Cocos nucifera). Since the early days, Kerala, the South Indian state is known for its fair share of Coconut trees. It forms a major part of the landscape in Kerala. In fact, the name, Kerala has come from the word ‘Kera’ meaning coconut trees. Supreme quality coconuts are collected from selected farmers who follow farming techniques which do not comprise the usage of harmful pesticides or fertilizers in any form. Outer coir layer of coconut is removed and the hard shell is cracked open to make it to two pieces.
