The Trichur Co. Operative Spinning Mill was commissioned during 1986 with an installed Capacity of 12000 spindles with LR DJ 50 Ring Frames and MMC Ring frames. During 1993 to 1995 period the mill was increased its capacity to 25104 by installing LR G5/1 Ring Frames which are included in the category of state of art technology. During 2000-01 a modernization was taken place and brought in 4 Nos. Trumac Cards and Sussen Asia Ring Frames by replacing MMC Cards and DJ 50 Ring Frames respectively. During 15-16, 7480 spindles of outdated Spindles were removed for modernization and the present capacity is 13104 spindles. New 9216 spindles with latest machinery installed and commissioned during 2020. Hence the final capacity will be 22320 Spindles. During 2010-11 a Hank Yarn project has been commissioned to cater yarn to Hand Looms through National Hand Loom Development Corporation The total Share Capital of the mills is Rs 1169 lakhs as on 31.3.2016, out of which the State Govt. holding will be 97.70%. Trichur Cooperative Spinning Mills is now producing Polyester cotton yarn with 70:30 Blend ranging from the 50s to 72s Count and 100% Cotton yarn ranging from the 40s to 80s Carded count.
